Ann Daniels has been appointed Interim Head of Community Care at the London Borough of Merton, following the departure of Simon Williams, who takes up the post of Director of Policy, Surrey & Sussex Health Authority.
Ann joins Merton from the Social Services Inspectorate, where she was Link Inspector with responsibility for Performance Assessment of Social Services functions in London Boroughs.
Ann is a qualified social worker and successfully oversaw the integration of mental health services with the local Primary Care Trust in Greenwich, and looks forward to building on this success at Merton. She plans to improve and build on the progress that has already been made in social care and aims to make the service more flexible and accessible, offering wider choices for residents.
Rea Mattocks, Director of Housing and Social Services, at Merton, said of the appointment:
“Ann’s background of operational and strategic management, combined with her performance management role at the SSI means that she brings a set of unique and valuable skills to Merton which will add to the breadth of the management team and help us to continue developing and improving our services. We are all very excited about her appointment.”
