As part of Global Campaign for Education’s Action Week, Wimbledon MP Roger Casale will be visiting Dundonald Primary School on Friday 23 April to talk with year 4 students about the value of education.
During the visit, Mr Casale and students will discuss the reasons why so many children in other countries miss out on an education. Students will offer their views to Mr Casale, in the form of a presentation.
Global Campaign for Education (GCE) is an international campaign supported by UNICEF and UNESCO. Its mission is to change the fact that more than 100 million children of primary school age have never had the chance to go to school. Part of the campaign involves lobbying members of parliament and dignitaries all over the world.
Head teacher Jane White, said:
“This lobbying event is an opportunity for children to think about the value and necessity of education, something which we tend to take for granted in this country. It will also give them experience of campaigning on the behalf of children less fortunate than them, who have no access to education”.
