Merton Adult Education is celebrating the achievement of their language learners who received outstanding GCSE results this year.
Adult learners excelled as 100% received A* in French GCSE, 100% received A or A* in both German and Italian courses, while 79% were awarded A or A* in Spanish.
Merton Adult Education wants more adults to start thinking about their potential and opens its doors on Tuesday 8 September so residents can see the wide variety of courses available. With a daytime slot at 10am – 2pm and an evening session at 6.30pm – 8.30pm, there is plenty of time to take the first step back into education.

As well as excellent language courses, the prospectus boasts a diverse range of courses, including financial planning. These courses offer essential tips about how to plan for retirement, maternity leave and other expected life events as well as unplanned events such as critical illness, redundancy, divorce.
Yvonne Tomlin, head of community education said “It’s great to see so many adult learners achieving such high grades as they have all worked so hard to get there. My congratulations go out to each and every one of them. “
Cabinet member for housing and community services Councillor Linda Scott said “Merton council is committed to offering a high standard of adult education, which is accessible and tailored to learners’ needs. Lifelong learning is something in which all can play a part.”
“With a difficult job market, these courses are a great way for residents to upskill or change direction.
