Help to clean up your neighbourhood for a couple of hours on Saturday 11 June.
Merton Council is calling on residents who want to help the council keep the borough clean to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in at a clean-up session from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Meet the council team and other volunteers at the Haydon’s Road Recreation Ground car park at 10.30am, where all the necessary equipment will be provided.
They will have gloves, bags and litter pickers to be used. Attendees are advised to wear appropriate clothing.
Cabinet Member for Street Cleanliness and Parking, Councillor Ross Garrod, said: “We spend more than £5million a year keeping the borough’s streets clean but we always appreciate help from residents. We would like as many people as possible to join us for the clean-up this weekend.
“The council takes tough action on people who litter and also invests time in educating people about the effects of environmental crime.”
The clean-up will cover the Merton High Street area, from the park towards South Wimbledon Underground station and along North Road and the nature trail if time allows.
It is one of six clean-up events organised this summer to help keep the borough free of litter.
Email the waste services team on email@example.com or call 020 8545 3189 to let them know if you can attend.
The council will provide equipment and collect bags of rubbish from residents who want to organise their own clean-up event.
