Responding to fallen trees as Storm Eowyn continues

Merton Council’s Greenspaces arboriculture team and tree contractors, Barkland Tree Specialists, are actively responding to reports of fallen and damaged trees across the borough as strong winds from Storm Eowyn continue.

Emergency tree maintenance works are underway, with the team prioritising live cases and focusing on trees affecting roads and motorways to ensure public safety.

Highways and parks tree inspectors are monitoring high-risk trees across the borough, with further strong winds expected throughout the day.

Our tree contractors, Barkland Tree Specialists, are on call to handle any new incidents as they arise.

IdverdeUK, our parks contractors, are assisting by reporting to dangerous trees in parks, open spaces, cemeteries, and allotments.

Any trees that fall will be replaced in the next planting season, in line with the council’s Tree Strategy commitments. Trees with minor damage may be pruned or partially cut back where safe and appropriate.

If you spot a fallen tree on a road or in a park, please report it to StreetTrees@merton.gov.uk or visit our Report It page.

Important Note: Merton Council does not charge residents for tree removal services.
