Twenty-nine bids submitted by Merton’s residents and community organisations are set to share more than £950,000 from Merton Council’s Civic Pride Funds, and the Community Climate Action Fund.

The bids include improvements to Merton’s green spaces and community centres, as well as supporting residents to reduce their energy bills. Full details of all the projects can be found here (Pages 27-54).

The bids were recommended after a five-week bidding window held in autumn 2024. At their meeting on 24 March 2025 Cabinet allocated £610,000 Civic Pride – Investing in Neighbourhoods funding, and £166k Community Climate Action Funding to the twenty-three successful bidders, with a further six community projects supported by £180,000 additional Civic Pride funds. Another bidding round will open for residents and community groups for new projects later in 2025.

Councillor Eleanor Stringer, Cabinet Member for Civic Pride added:

It was another year of high-quality bids for the Investing in Neighbourhoods Fund and the Community Climate Action Fund. Working with the community to find solutions to the challenges that we face is a great way to enhance civic pride, help create a Borough of Sport and deliver a sustainable future.
