Merton students celebrate GCSE success

Students across Merton schools received their GCSE and vocational results today, marking another year of achievement across the borough’s secondary schools.

Whilst early figures show that national outcomes in English and Maths have fallen, indicative results show that Merton students are continuing to perform well.

This success reflects the dedication of teachers, school leaders and families, and the strength of Merton’s education system; with every school in the borough now holding good or better judgements from Ofsted.

Councillor Sally Kenny, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Education, joined students at Wimbledon College to share in their celebrations. She said:

“Congratulations to all our young people receiving results today. We are incredibly proud of your hard work and determination, and excited to see the next steps in your journey.

“My thanks also go to our teachers, school staff and families, whose support has been vital in enabling our young people to succeed.”
