Merton launches its Business Energy Efficiency Support Scheme

The London Borough of Merton has partnered with Groundwork London to launch Merton’s Business Energy Efficiency Support Scheme, offering energy audits and match-funded grants to help local businesses reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions.

Merton Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Civic Pride and Climate Change, Councillor Eleanor Stringer, said:

I’m delighted to announce the launch of our new Business Energy Efficiency Support Scheme. Eligible businesses will get a free tailored plan to highlight where they can save money on energy costs, while also reducing their carbon emissions. We’ll then offer match-funding to help businesses implement these measures and reduce their running costs.

Businesses who have had an audit will be able to apply for between £3,000 and £15,000 for energy efficiency improvements to their premises or equipment, provided they are able to match-fund 50% of the overall cost and meet other eligibility criteria, listed on the Groundwork London website. The grants cover a large range of measures, including:

  • Solar Panels
  • Double-glazed windows
  • LED lights
  • Insulation
  • Smart meters

These upgrades will not only lower energy bills but also reduce carbon emissions by shifting away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy sources.

Support will be provided to applicants throughout the process via workshops, as well as direct email and phone conversations with Groundwork London.
