Your Community Bank, a not-for-profit credit union serving Croydon, Merton and Sutton, has opened a part-time hub at Merton Civic Centre giving borough residents easier access to their services
The hub is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am–2pm, and can answer any queries or walk you through any paperwork face to face.
Merton Council works with Your Community Bank to deliver the Merton Young Savers Scheme, which helps young people in the borough build good financial habits from an early age.
Year 7 students living in Merton are eligible for a free savings account, with a £20 deposit from the council and £10 for their parent or carer, funded through Merton’s Cost-of-Living Fund.
Funds are held until the young person turns 16, giving them a financial head start at a key milestone.
The scheme is now in its third year and students and families can visit the new hub at Morden Civic Centre to open an account in person.
Councillor Eleanor Stringer, Cabinet Member for Civic Pride and Climate Change, said: “Having the team here in person makes a real difference. Residents can now sit down with someone face to face and get the help they need, whether it’s opening a savings account or signing up for the Merton Young Savers Scheme.”
“This is exactly the kind of partnership that makes Merton a stronger community.”
