The annual voter registration period is now in full swing and every residential property in Merton should now have received their form. Canvassers will be out and about in October to help residents who have not yet returned their forms. The information is important as it is required by law.
If anyone would prefer to vote by post at elections, rather than voting at a polling station, applications can be requested on the registration form.
The annual canvass is the basis of the new register, which will be published at the beginning of December. But don’t forget that details on the register can be changed at any time. So if you move in Merton contact us or visit our website at http://www.merton.gov.uk/voting to ensure that your details are correct.
Residents need to register to be able to vote at next May’s Council elections. These will be fought on new ward boundaries. Look out for more details about this in the coming months.
If anyone would like more information on electoral registration or voting they should call 020 8545 3407 or email electoral.services@merton.gov.uk
