When: 9.30am – 1300pm, Thursday 22 November
Where: Council Chamber, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden
Merton Council is hosting a conference on the Neighbourhood and Street warden’s schemes, which every London borough has been invited to attend.
The conference will feature two American speakers, Ms Stacy Irving Director of Crime Prevention Services, Philadelphia and Frank Russo Senior Director of Business Improvement District, Washington, who have helped to develop the warden scheme worldwide. The scheme was first introduced in the US and Holland.
It is of particular interest following Stephen Byers announcement last week that he was awarding money to pay for more wardens following a bidding stage. Merton Council was successful and secured five more wardens – two street wardens and three neighbourhood wardens.
The press are invited to attend the event. One to One interviews can be arranged with Merton’s council officers and councillors and the American speakers upon request.
