Merton schools commended by government

14 schools in Merton receive national achievement awards

More than ten of Merton’s schools have landed nationally recognised awards from the government for excellence in their practice.

The 14 schools, from across the borough, have been awarded School Achievement Awards by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and recognise outstanding progress and achievement.

Together with three beacon schools and one further beacon school application, these latest awards mean a third of all schools in Merton have now achieved national recognition for high standards of performance.

Sue Evans, Director of Education, Leisure and Libraries said: ‘These awards reflect the excellence of our schools in Merton and the dedication of staff who work so hard to support all the children. I would like to express my congratulations to them all.”

The schools that have received awards are; All Saints C of E First School, Beecholme First School, Benedict First School, Bishop Gilpin C of E First School, Gorringe Park Middle School, Malmesbury First School, Merton Abbey First School, Morden First School, Park House Middle School, Pelham First School, Ricards Lodge High School, Sherwood First School, St John Fisher RC Primary School, St Teresa’s RC Primary School.
