The Mayor of Merton, Stuart Pickover, held a reception at Morden Park House last week to congratulate two Merton companies, Toucan Sales Promotions and Paar Scientific, who recently won Best of Business Awards.
The Best of Business Awards 2002 were presented for eight different categories of which the Merton companies won two. The Awards, organised by Croydon Marketing and Development Ltd on behalf of the Chambers of Commerce in South London, recognise the achievements of businesses in south London, northeast Surrey and metropolitan Kent.
Toucan Sales Promotions, based in Wimbledon, won the best marketing strategy award for their work in the grocery industry, where competition between brands is cut-throat. The Raynes Park manufacturer Paar Scientific, who supply density and viscosity meters, won the best exporting business award.
The Mayor of Merton, Stuart Pickover, said: “I am delighted that two of the Best of Business Awards went to Merton companies. I would like to congratulate both businesses on their achievement and thank them for helping to raise the profile of Merton as a thriving business centre.”
Merton Council’s Head of Service Development, Ade Adebayo, said: “Merton’s success in the Best of Business Awards is great news for the borough’s business community. The Council is keen to strengthen the local economy and increase local jobs by attracting and supporting businesses.
“Merton Council’s Business and Environmental Partnerships Unit works with other agencies to provide access to a coordinated range of business support services and is a contact point for businesses who have problems which the Council can help to resolve.”
