Countess of Wessex to open school extension and visit care centre
What: HRH Sophie Countess of Wessex will officially open a new extension building.
Where: Lonesome School, Grove Road, Mitcham, CR4 1SD
When: 13 November, 1.15pm
The Countess of Wessex will be greeted by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of London and taken on a tour of the school where she will visit classrooms and speak to pupils.
The Countess will then officially open a new extension building for Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils featuring six classrooms, an ICT suite, changing rooms and a quiet room.
The extension was built as part of Merton’s Schools Reorganisation project and the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Edith Macauley, members of Merton Council’s Education department, the architects and construction company will all be present for the opening ceremony.
Following the visit to Lonesome School, the Countess will travel to the Red Hut Child Care Centre.

The Red Hut Child Care Centre is a breakfast and after school club for pupils of Garden Primary, William Morris and Sherwood schools. Between the hours of 8am-6pm the centre offers private day care for children aged between nine months and five years old for parents that work or need respite care.
