Pupils from Dundonald Primary School in Wimbledon take environmental issues seriously and around 20 children took to Dundonald Park last week to plant over 40 new plants in the garden bed that backs onto the school wall.
The children worked with Tony Whittlesea from Merton’s Park Service to plant the new shrubs and plants in their lunch break on Monday 24 March.
Jane White, Head Teacher at Dundonald Primary said:
“The children are very enthusiastic when it comes to environmental issues, planting shrubbery in the garden bed was an idea that came from the school council, which meets fortnightly, to discuss school and environmental issues. The council consists of two pupils from each class, a parent and school governor and works extremely well as this initiative shows.”
