As part of national Refugee Week 2003, Merton Asylum Welcome (part of MVSC) held a celebration event on 18 June at Queens Road Church, Wimbledon for volunteers of Asylum Welcome and for asylum seekers and refugee families who have benefited from the advice and support given to them.

Mayor of Merton, Councillor Maxi Martin attended the event, and along with other guests were treated to an energetic performance from Torera Mpedzisi, a Mbira player, and John Adewale, on the drums.

A great time was had by all, and gave everyone the opportunity to celebrate the good work of Merton Asylum Welcome, Catherine Nolan, Manager of Asylum Welcome was delighted by the turn out and thanked all the volunteers for their hard work over the past year.
