Renowned/ children’s poet and author Michael Rosen, will present the prizes, and also in attendance, will be the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Maxi Martin and Sue Evans, director of Education, Leisure and Libraries at Merton.
Approximately 60 children have won a prize, as have three schools in Merton, St Matthews, Sacred Heart, and Sherwood. The scheme began in July, when children were invited to write a review of a book that they had read. The aim of the initiative was to encourage children to enjoy books, and share them with their family and friends. Throughout the scheme, each child’s name was displayed in his or her local library, and if they completed the “Reading Maze”, they will receive a medal and certificate.
Mr Rosen will be signing copies of his books after the presentation, which is available to buy from Fielders Bookshop in the Polka Theatre.
