On Monday 13 October, pupils at Links Primary, will receive their Healthy School Award from Sue Evans, Merton’s Director of Education, Leisure and Libraries during a special assembly.

The Merton Healthy Schools Scheme is running in many Merton schools. It encourages schools to be healthy places in terms of both physical and emotional health. Schools set up a committee comprising staff, parents, governors and pupils and work towards achieving 12 stringent criteria which include ensuring the school is welcoming to visitors, teaching pupils the importance of being healthy, promoting physical exercise and putting citizenship projects into place.

Sue Evans, Director of Education at Merton said:

‘I am very proud of the excellent work going on in Links Primary and in all Merton schools. Staff, pupils, parents and governors are all working together to create a stimulating and healthy environment in which children can achieve their maximum potential. Congratulations to Links Primary for their considerable successes across the curriculum and for achieving this award.’

The Merton scheme is linked to the National Healthy Schools Scheme, which is strongly supported by Tony Blair, Charles Clarke and Alan Milburn.
