Reach out for benefits advice

Merton’s Housing and Social Services team are running Outreach Surgeries at the District Housing Offices in November. The emphasis will be on assisting vulnerable client groups such as the elderly and people with disabilities. However all residents from the areas are welcome.

We will offer advice and information about benefit entitlement; help with completing welfare benefit forms and provide details on representation at welfare benefit appeals.

Other participants include:

· The Local Pension Service
· Inland Revenue (South London Area Branch)
· The Local Jobcentre Plus (New Deal Section)
· Housing Benefit’s Mobile Benefits Assistant
· Care Connect

The Outreach Surgeries will be on a ‘first come first served’ basis so no appointments are necessary. We will be monitoring the sessions very closely to ensure that they meet the needs of our tenants and residents.

The Outreach Surgeries will be held 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm at the following sites:

Merton Tenants & Residents Federation Office, 328 London Road, Mitcham (next door to Mitcham CAB)
· 4th November

South Mitcham Community Centre, Phipps Bridge Estate, Mitcham
