Merton appoints new Chief Executive

Merton Council has confirmed the appointment of its new Chief Executive, Ged Curran, currently an Executive Director at neighbouring borough Lambeth.

The Appointments Committee, which includes the Leader of the Council Councillor Andrew Judge and Leader of the Opposition Councillor David Williams, made the recommendation to appoint Ged Curran to full Council on Wednesday. The recommendation was approved by members, and Ged will take up the top job at Merton in mid March next year.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Andrew Judge said: ‘I believe Ged will be an exceptional Chief Executive, and confident he will provide strong leadership on Merton’s continuing ‘Journey to Excellence’. ‘

Ged Curran said: ‘I look forward to working with Merton’s staff and councillors in helping them deliver excellent services for the people of Merton.’
