St Mary’s R.C. primary school in Wimbledon, has made the Top 20 in this year’s league table of London primary schools. The results are based on the national curriculum tests in English, Maths and Science taken in May 2003 by all 11 years old attending state primary schools.
The table shows the percentage of children who met or exceeded the Government’s Level 4 target score in each subject. Pupils at St Mary’s achieved 100% for English, 97% for Maths and 100% for Science.
St Mary’s became a primary school during schools reorganisation and was one of the first new primary schools to enter children for the Key Stage 2 tests.
Fran Hibbert, Chair of Governors at St Mary’s is delighted with the results, she said:
“These results are a team effort, achieved by the hard work and commitment of our children, staff and parents. They are just one aspect of the broad cirriculum we offer to our children at St Mary’s.”
Councillor Geraldine Stanford, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, said:
“We are always pleased when excellence is achieved. Well done to everyone at St Mary’s.”
