Local author and Merton resident, Tony Hawks will be setting a children’s challenge at Morden Library on Thursday 4 March, to celebrate World Book Day. Renowned for his books “Around Ireland with a Fridge” and “Playing the Moldovans at Tennis”, there is no-one better to set the children a mad book hunt challenge.
In support of the CSV (Community Service Volunteers) Lending Time Project in Merton, Tony will be giving his time as a volunteer. CSV is working in partnership with Merton Library & Heritage Service to develop innovative and rewarding volunteer activities, which add value to the library service.
This activity is an excellent example of volunteer opportunities available in Merton’s libraries and illustrates how volunteers can make a real difference to services in their local community.
Chris O’Connell, Audience Development Project Officer, said:
“The treasure hunt on World Book Day will be a really fun way for the kids to appreciate just how much diversity there is in books and how much there is to discover in the library”
Andrew Chadwick, Lending Time Project Manager in Merton, said:
“Tony’s support for Lending Time in Merton is a fantastic way to illustrate how library volunteering can make a great extra contribution to the service.”
