Graffiti vandals targeted Pelham Road in Wimbledon on last Friday night (26 March 2004) and Merton Council and the police are asking residents to help to identify the culprits.
The damage took place late Friday night/early Saturday morning in Pelham Road, which is next to the New Wimbledon Theatre. The vandals left their ‘tags’ and residents are asked to get in touch if they think they know who is responsible. ‘Tags’ may also appear in school books, on bags or other personal possessions.
Pat Dejesus, Merton Council’s Graffiti Officer, said: “We received a large number of calls from concerned residents reporting the damage in Pelham Road and we immediately arranged for the graffiti to be removed. I urge any residents who recognise the tags or witnessed the vandalism taking place to come forward with information.”
