Don’t waste it – compost it!

Find out how to compost in Merton link! International Compost Awareness Week will be supported by Merton Council on Friday 7 May, when Merton Gardens and Allotments Habitat Action Plan Group will demonstrate how to compost in the Merton Link reception on the ground floor of the Civic Centre, Morden.

Representatives from the Merton Gardens and Allotments HAP will be present in the Merton Link on Friday lunchtime from 12:00 to 2.30pm, demonstrating how composting works and ready to answer any composting related questions that residents may have. Anyone is welcome to come along and watch the composting experts in action and get answers to any niggling questions.

International Compost Awareness Week, which takes place from 2-8 May this year, originates from Canada, but was introduced to the UK in 2001. Since then, during the first week of May every year, promotional and educational composting events have been held across the country, encouraging members of the public to take up composting.

The Merton Gardens and Allotments HAP Group have produced a booklet called ‘Go Green in the Garden’ – A guide to organic and wildlife gardening in Merton. The booklets are being delivered to all Merton residents. If you have not received a booklet by the end of June then you can pick one up from your local library.
