Double celebration for Mitcham school

A Mitcham school has two reasons to celebrate this Friday June 25 when the doors are opened on its multi-million pound refit.

Not only are the new facilities, provided through the Merton Schools Reorganisation project, some of the best in London but they coincide with the schools 50th birthday.

The party gets underway at 2pm when the schools new sports hall is officially opened by Pakistan and Surrey cricket star Saqlain Mushtaq.

This is followed by a reception between 4.30pm and 6.30pm in the new school buildings attended by pupils from every decade from the 1950s. The school’s first ever head-boy will also be traveling up from Dorset to mark the occasion which will be attended by the Mayor, Councillor Margaret Brierly.
