More multicultural topics up for discussion

For all those who are interested in the history of London’s multicultural community, the next Merton Multicultural History Group (MMCHG) talk will take place on 19 July at 7.30pm.

Guest speaker, Sean Creighton will talk on the subject, ‘Black & Asian MPs, Councillors and candidates in the UK 1880s-1950s’. A joint founder of the Group, Sean is a keen historian who regularly contributes to the newsletter of the Black & Asian Studies Association.

With the exception of August, subsequent talks will take place on the third Monday of each month. Forthcoming topics of discussion include the representation of black people in art and Nelson’s black connections.

The meetings will take place in the meeting room at Morden Library, Merton Civic Centre, London Rd, (near Morden Underground Station).
