An open evening will be held on 6 October for prospective participants of Merton’s Duke of Edinburgh Award
An open evening will be held on Wednesday 6 October between 8pm and 9.30pm In Morden for prospective participants of the London Borough of Merton’s Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Parents and carers of prospective participants are also welcome to attend the event at the Wyvern Youth Centre at 18 Arras Avenue. There will be displays, literature and general information available as well as the opportunity to talk to leaders and young people currently participating in the program.
The award is part of Merton’s Youth Service and is open to all young people aged between 14-25 years living or going to school in the borough.
There are over 1000 young people registered with the Award in Merton, each one participating in the scheme at bronze, silver or gold level by completing four sections; service, skill, physical recreation and expedition (with a fifth, a residential project at Gold level).
A voluntary program completed in extra curricular time, the award offers the chance to participate in a wide variety of activities, learn new skills and make new friends.
It is an accredited, nationally recognized scheme which employers and educational institutions find extremely attractive and can be a valuable addition to any young person’s CV or Record of Achievement.
