Gambling has paid off for two of Merton’s local charities after £1250 was raised by the Mayor of Merton’s Charity Dog Night, on Friday 8 October at Wimbledon Stadium.
Merton residents were invited to attend the event that aimed to raise funds for St Raphael’s Hospice and Merton Crossroads. A total of 11 dog races were held on the evening with all money raised being donated to the organisations.
The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Margaret Brierly, said: ‘The Charity Dogs Night was a great success.
‘Over 200 people came along to lend their support, helping us raise more than £1,250 for St Raphael’s Hospice and Merton Crossroads. The event was not only enjoyable for all but raised money for two worthy causes.’
