We wish you a Merry Christmas shopping

Sleigh bells ring as Merton Council has once again teamed up with Centre Court Shopping in Wimbledon and voluntary groups in Merton to provide a special Christmas shopping afternoon from 11am to 1pm on Sunday 28 November for those who otherwise find it difficult to get to the shops.

Merton Council is inviting people with disabilities, their companions, pensioners and anybody with mobility problems to enjoy a free ride to and from the shops at Centre Court, Wimbledon. The afternoon will also feature carol singing and free coffee.

The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Margaret Brierly, will be joining in the seasonal cheer at 11.30am. She said: “I am looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit at Centre Court. It is a brilliant event as it enables the less mobile members of our community to join in the Christmas spirit – hassle free.”

As in previous years, the council will provide free transport to anyone who needs it. Anyone who would like a lift to and from the shops for this event, should call their local voluntary group, or contact Merton Voluntary Services Council on 020 8685 1771, or contact Merton Council on 020 8545 4790/4782.

If you would like further information about this special event please call Helle Kristjansen at Merton Council on 020 8545 3077.
