Friends of the Park

Nearly £3,000 was raised for Cannizaro Park’s Sunken Garden at a special fundraising dinner at Cannizaro House on Saturday 26 February, organised by the ‘Friends of Cannizaro Park’.

Guests to the black-tie themed event were treated to dinner, disco and entertainment, including a fundraising auction. Items on offer in the auction included, four tickets to see Matthew Bourne’s Highland Fling at the New Wimbledon Theatre and weekend breaks at Bridgehouse Hotels four other country house mansions. At least £15 from each ticket sold went towards the garden, in addition to the auctions proceeds of £1958.00.

Darren McGhee, General Manager of Cannizaro House, said, ‘The support from the local community was tremendous and helped make the evening a very successful one indeed. Nearly £3,000 was raised on the night, which will be utilised in full to benefit Cannizaro Park. Cannizaro House is indeed very proud to be able to assist in such a positive way for this worthwhile cause and to work for the benefit of the local community.’

The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Margaret Brierly said, ‘I was very happy to attend the fundraising dinner at Cannizaro House Hotel on Saturday for the benefit of the Friends of Cannizaro Park. It was a lovely evening, which I enjoyed very much and was pleased that the auction raised a good sum of money.’
