Composting in Merton Link

Find out how to compost and order a bin from as little as £5 in the Merton Link reception on the ground floor of the Civic Centre, Morden from 10am – 3pm on Friday 1 April. (This it not an April fools!!!!)

Merton has joined forced with WRAP (the Waste and Resources Action Programme) to provide residents with subsidised composting bins. Wrap’s compost advisor and Merton’s Waste Minimisation Officer will be available in Merton Link next Friday to show residents examples of the bins available, take orders, explain how composting works and answer any composting related questions.

The council hope to sell several thousand compost bins this year and persuade residents to compost more of their organic garden and kitchen waste. Composting can reduce household waste by up to a third.

Councillor Linda Kirby, Merton Council’s cabinet member for environmental quality, said: “I urge residents to take advantage of the subsidised price of the bins and to try composting. It not only helps to reduce the amount of waste that you send to landfill but it is also good for your garden.”

To order a bin directly contact WRAP on 0845 077 0760.
