The awards evening, held in Merton’s council chamber at the Civic Centre, honours students in the borough’s schools who have made excellent progress. Just as importantly, it recognises those in the wider learning community who have made an outstanding contribution in helping the children reach their goals.
Cabinet Member for Schools, Councillor David Chung is looking forward to the evening.
“The Merton Achievement Awards are the perfect way to acknowledge the inspirational achievements of Merton’s schools and learning community,” explained Councillor Chung. “We have so many talented people in our schools and they deserve recognition for all the hard work they do.”
The awards will be extra special this year with attendance and a key note speech from Roy Clare, the Director of the National Maritime Museum in recognition of Merton’s historical ties with Admiral Nelson in this the Battle of Trafalgar Bicentenary year.
