Photo Call – Merton’s 2006 New Year’s Day Parade Float

Media are invited to attend a photo call at the Sita Depot in Church Road, Mitcham on Friday 30 December.

On display will be Merton’s 2006 New Year’s Day Parade Float.

The theme of this year’s float is the pleasures and treasures of Merton and the famous Merton Abbey Mills Market.

You will be able to explore the float, which features an arts and crafts market and a live colour theatre is also one of the many attractions that will be on board.

This is the final opportunity to see the float before it embarks on its journey up to central London on January 1 for the 20th Anniversary parade, where it will be pitting itself against an array of other floats.

The final decision on the winning float will be made by an international panel of judges, who will be based in Trafalgar Square, the end of the parade.

This photo call is scheduled for 12.00pm and Merton’s Mayor, Councillor Judy Saunders will be at this event to participate in the photo call and to lend her support to this year’s entry.
