Last call for community grant initiative

Time is running out for community groups in Merton to claim a grant of up to £5,000 to help fund events.

If your activity crosses race, faith, culture or age barriers, your group should be eligible for the grant which aims to help you stage positive events or activity that promote inter-community engagement, while removing social barriers.

The grants are managed by the Merton Voluntary Service Council on behalf of the Merton Partnership. The grants are funded by Safer Merton – a crime and disorder partnership between the London Borough of Merton, Police and Fire services and the Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust among others.

These one-off grants will be available to voluntary and community groups, which bring people together through a shared interest. Priority will be given to events involving children but are not designed to meet general running costs.

Grants of between £500 and £5000 will be awarded but submissions must be made before January 31.
