Election Result

Sixteen years of Labour control came to an end last night in the London Borough of Merton.

The Conservatives won 30 seats, compared to 27 for Labour, with 3 independent candidates also elected, overcoming the previous Labour majority of seven.

Voting numbers were up with an confirmed turn out of 42.84 per cent, compared to 34.2 per cent at the last local election in 2002.
