Let the debate begin!

David Dimbleby, move aside, as pupils from a selection of secondary schools in Merton held their very own Question Time session at the inter schools’ debate last Wednesday.

The Chaucer Centre in Morden played host to the precocious students from Bishopsford Community School, Raynes Park High School, Ricards Lodge High School, Ursuline High School and Wimbledon College.

They debated a range of topical subjects, started off with the contentious argument that film and music superstars do not deserve the money they earn.

In a nail biting finish, Ursuline High School managed to hold off the strong challenge from Bishopsford Community School and will now pit their wits against a host of other London schools in the ESU London debate challenge on Tuesday 27 June.

The Latymer School in the London Borough of Enfield are the current holders, having won the 2005 title.
