Biggest Mitcham Carnival to date!

It’s hard to believe, but yet another exciting fun filled Mitcham Carnival is nearly upon us.

The theme for the 2006 Mitcham Carnival is Mitcham moving ahead and will take place on Saturday 17 June at Three Kings Piece, Mitcham. People are encouraged to attend from midday onwards in order to catch the spectacular parade, which starts in Figges Marsh. The complete line up for this year’s parade is as follows:

2) The Mayor of Merton and town crier
3) Morris Minors
4) 23rd Mitcham scout group and Wandsworth Brewery
5) Dance Mode
6) Merton graffiti team
7) Mitcham Cricket Club
8) Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Band
9) Saint Peter and St Paul’s Roman Catholic Church
10) Mitcham Little League
11) Blu Starz Cheerleaders
12) Army vehicle
13) Scout band
14) Merton Council – recycling team
15) AFC Wimbledon
16) Dance Divas
17) Mitcham Rugby Club
18) Merton Community Transport
19) Merton Insight – youth service
20) St John Ambulance
21) Environmental services vehicle

Attractions at the carnival that finishes at approximately 6.00pm include a funfair, stalls, music, Little League football tournament and arena events

Councillor Geraldine Stanford, Mayor of Merton said:

“The Carnival has been going from strength to strength over the past few years, and this parade will be the biggest in recent years. Also, at Three Kings’ Piece, Mitcham, there will be exciting arena events and entertainment for all age groups from Punch and Judy for the young children, to an afternoon listening to the Merton Concert Band playing tunes from the musicals.

“I look forward to seeing everybody at what promises to be a wonderful event.”
