National Storytelling Week is a great time to enjoy stories as a family. This year, Merton libraries are hosting a range of events especially for children.
If your children enjoy dressing up, you are invited to join them in costume for a special storytime at Wimbledon Library on Tuesday 23 January, 2.15pm.
Story sack sessions are being run at a number of Merton libraries for parents, carers and children. Props, soft toys, and materials are used to help bring the stories in the books to life and to create new stories.
Story sack sessions will be held on the following dates:
· Morden Library, 2 February, 2.15 – 3pm
· West Barnes, 2 February, 11am – 12pm
· Morden Library, 7 February, 10.30 – 12pm
· Mitcham Library, 24 February, 11 – 12pm
· Donald Hope Library, 24 February, 2 – 3pm
Children from Bond Primary School will be attending storytime at Mitcham Library on Tuesday 30 January. There are two sessions at 11 -11.50am and 1.30 – 2pm.
Councillor Maurice Groves, Cabinet Member for Community Services said:
‘National Storytelling Week is a wonderful time to discover new ways of reading, learning and laughing together with children.
“Some of these sessions may inspire you to bring stories to life and create stories of your own that you and children will enjoy.
‘I would like to thank all Merton Library staff for organising events that families can have fun together celebrating National Storytelling Week.’
