What: Merton Adult Education celebrates the achievements of adult learners

As part of the activity to mark Adult Learners’ Week in Merton, Merton Adult Education is holding a learning awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of both students and tutors.
The Worshipful Mayor of Merton, Councillor John Dehaney will be presenting awards to recognise adult learners in Merton.
The student award categories are Older Learner, Overcoming Barriers to Learning, New Learners Achievement, Learning for Work, Group award and Outstanding Achievement.
There will also be a number of awards for tutors nominated by their students. Samples of students’ artwork and photography will be on display for the evening and there will be a performance by students from a variety of dance classes.
Councillor Maurice Groves, Cabinet Member for Community Services said:
“It is wonderful to celebrate lifelong learning. Merton Adult Education works hard to provide a high quality service that meets the learning and training needs of our communities and today is a tribute to their hard work and diligence. I would like to congratulate all award recipients, many of whom have had to balance work and family life to achieve success in their chosen field.”
