SmokeFree Merton is nearly here

It is just under a month before smoking is banned in virtually all public places and workplaces throughout England.

Merton Council is currently talking to local businesses, business forums and local Pubwatch groups about the significance of the new legislation. Educating people about the 1 July legislation is the main priority for Merton Council and ensuring they display the legally required signage issued through the SmokeFree England campaign.

Merton Council has also employed two SmokeFree officers who will ensure businesses and members of the public are supported and educated about the legislation before and after it has come into effect.

Key events in Merton to promote the impending legislation are as follows:

Tuesday 12 June
SmokeFree education event
Savacentre, Merantun Way, Colliers Wood, SW19 2PH

Wednesday 13 June
SmokeFree education event
Centre Court Shopping Centre
The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19

Friday 29 June

Details to be confirmed.

An outdoor poster campaign is also due to start on Tuesday 19 June in Merton to highlight the new legislation and its impact.
