On 1 August 2007 the government will introduce the nationwide Home Information Pack (HIP) initiative.
Homeowners wanting to sell a house with four bedrooms or more will need to complete a HIP for prospective buyers. The pack will need to include a Local Land Charges search.
The purpose of the search is to provide potential purchasers with information held by the council that applies to the property, such as planning permissions, roads being built nearby and any compulsory purchase orders.
A local land charges search can be obtained from the council. It is recommended that sellers use Merton Council’s Local Land Charges section to provide their search.
Merton council is experienced in providing the information required in this search and consistently does this within an average of 2 working days.
Residents can request their solicitor or HIP Provider to commission a search from Merton Council. For further information or to contact the Local Land Charges section please call 020 8545 3350 or email firstname.lastname@example.org You can also visit the website at http://www.merton.gov.uk/landcharges
