Merton Week of Peace was launched at Wimbledon YMCA on Saturday 8 September with a Family Fun Day. Activities this week included an award ceremony for prize winners and finalists of Merton Schools poster competition on the theme of Peace Week.

The Peace Week finale will be on Saturday 15 September when the South London Music and Cultural Group will host a programme of dance and music from different cultures. The event runs from 5-7.30pm at Wimbledon Community Centre, St George’s Road.

Cabinet Member for Partnership and Community Safety, Councillor David Simpson said:

“People living in Merton feel that people from different backgrounds get on well together, and Peace Week provides lots of opportunities for everyone to have fun and learn about different cultures”.
