Wimbledon
Merton’s Christmas celebrations will kick off with the Wimbledon Winter Wonderland on Thursday 29 November. From 5pm there will be rides for children to enjoy, live music from Southside Steel Harmonics, Surrey Strings and MeMu. There will be a chance to try balloon modelling and there will be face painting, buskers and magic shows for all to enjoy. Roasted chestnuts, candyfloss and mince pies will add to the Christmas spirit, and visitors to the Winter Wonderland will also be able to take advantage of the special offers at the local stores. Prizes and giveaways can be won all evening.

At 6.00 pm, African drum and dance performers Odehei will lead the Christmas parade through Broadway. The parade will also include a fancy dress competition for pupils from Wimbledon Chase School, Haslemere Primary School and Morden Primary School. Local business Build-A-Bear will award a £25 voucher to the best dressed child. Mayor Dehaney, Wimbledon Town Crier Peter Moore, AFC Wimbledon as well as members of the Polka Theatre and Italia Conti School students dressed as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will join the celebrations too.

At 6.45pm, from the Centre Court Shopping Centre roof top, Radio Jackie will introduce our celebrity guests from this year’s pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They will officially switch on Christmas lights across Merton and start the countdown to the fireworks display. For more information, visit http://www.wimbledontowncentre.co.uk

Mitcham
Alongside the Wimbledon town centre celebrations, the Mitcham Christmas lights will be switched on to coincide with Wimbledon. A Christmas tree will be on Fair Green, Upper Green East for all to enjoy throughout the festive season.

Morden
Morden is gearing up for Christmas celebrations on Wednesday 5 December. The town centre’s Christmas tree lights will be switched on at 6.00pm outside the Civic Centre. Musicians from Merton Music Foundation will be playing all the favourite Christmas carols to entertain residents of Morden and commuters as they leave work for home. Carol singers will also be there. Refreshments will be served.
