Council welcomes investment in Merton’s youth

The Football Foundation and the Metropolitan Police, together with partners including the council, will offer coaching and competition as well as a range of other activities to help young people live healthy lifestyles and contribute to the community.

12 to 18 year olds will be able to take part in the course that will be held three nights a week, 48 weeks of the year.

64 Kickz projects are being set up across London with two in every borough.

Kickz is also aimed at improving the relationship between police and young residents and reducing anti-social behaviour.

Safer Merton Partnerships Officer, Chris Williams, says: “This is an important scheme for bringing young people closer to their communities and making sure they are enjoying themselves in a safe environment.”
