Merton residents are being encouraged to check out the autumn prospectus at Merton Adult Education over the summer break and reawaken those desires to pursue a new skill, language or career path.
The new prospectus boasts more than 200 different courses at various locations across the borough with price concessions available for those eligible while courses that address key skills such as English and Maths are available for free.
Highlights from the autumn prospectus include the mind, body and hospitality courses. Classes such as massage therapy, nail art, beauty therapy, tai chi and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) offer eager minds the opportunity for a career change or simply another talent to use at home with friends or family.
Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Maurice Groves, says it is never too late to start learning something new or building on existing skills.
“I encourage residents to revisit and entertain any dreams they might have of learning a new skill or developing a recreational talent or interest that the daily grind sometimes makes you overlook,” he says.
“There really is something to suit everyone, and with some of the courses on offer being absolutely free, residents can be assured they are getting value for money whilst discovering a new talent, skill or working towards a career change.”
An open day for residents interested in finding out more about particular subjects will be held at the Merton Adult Education Centre on Whatley Avenue, London SW20 9NS on Tuesday 9 September from 10am to 2pm and from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
