Merton Council is determined to take full advantage of the exciting opportunities the London 2012 Olympics will offer the borough – and is asking residents for their input this Local Democracy Week.
Local people are invited to come along to a meeting of the Merton Partnership – the borough’s Local Strategic Partnership made up of Merton Council, the local MPs, Merton Police, Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust and other voluntary, public and private sector bodies – on Thursday 16 October where Council Leader David Williams will be holding a question and answer session, giving people a chance to have their say and voice any concerns they might have.
Merton Council leader, Councillor David Williams said: “The Olympics promise to be a fantastic showcase for Merton and we are determined to make the most of the opportunities the Games will offer.
“The Olympics give us the perfect chance to promote the importance of health and fitness and tackle childhood obesity as well as many opportunities for local businesses. We are asking residents to share their views with us and let us know how they think we can best use these great opportunities.
“It is only by listening to residents that we can put their needs first and make sure we offer them the best value services possible.”
