New director for Children, Schools and Families

Merton Council is proud to announce the appointment of Yvette Stanley as the new director for children, schools and families in Merton.

Ms Stanley comes to Merton with more than twenty years experience in education and children’s services in London. For the last three years she has led the development of the children’s trust in Camden. Prior to this she was Camden’s acting director of education, having been an assistant director of education in Camden and two other London boroughs.

Ms Stanley’s successes include the development of integrated services across education, health and social care in the borough as well as securing school and service wide improvement in education and children’s services.

Ms Stanley is looking forward to joining Merton and says: “Merton clearly has very strong foundations to build on and the borough’s most recent GCSE results success is testament to this.’

“I know that the people of Merton are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children and young people in the borough and are committed to making Merton the best place to grow up. I’m really looking forward to joining this enthusiastic group of people and to working in partnership to improve the life chances and life choices of all our children and young people.”

Councillor Debbie Shears, cabinet member for Children’s Services says: “Yvette Stanley comes to us with fantastic credentials, which includes a wealth of experience and knowledge in the children’s services and education fields that will be invaluable to Merton.

“I’d like to officially extend a warm welcome to Ms Stanley as the new director for children, schools and families. We’re very excited to have her on board and are looking forward to working with her in the near future.”

Ms Stanley will join Merton Council early in the new year.
