Two high profile authors Elizabeth Chadwick and Katie Hickman will be reading extracts from their books and giving an exciting insight into their careers at the Wimbledon Library on Thursday 16 April at 7pm.
Elizabeth Chadwick has been described as the best writer of mediaeval fiction currently around by the Historical Novel Review. In addition to using primary data for her research, Elizabeth hones her vivid feel for the past by re-enacting with living history society Regia Anglorum.
Best selling author Katie Hickman’s book ‘Daughters of Britannia: The Lives and Times of Diplomatic Wives’ has sold over 200,000 copies to date and was adapted into a highly successful twenty part series for BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour.
Cabinet member Councillor Maurice Groves says “Having top class authors visit us in Merton helps inspire an atmosphere of culture and learning. Its great for Merton residents to see published authors and who knows it could inspire a bestselling author of the future to start writing.”
“Organising author readings like these shows Merton Council is determined to put the needs of residents first and provide entertainment everyone can enjoy.”
