Spring into learning with Merton Adult Education

If you are looking for a fresh challenge in 2010, why not see what Merton Adult Education has to offer in its new Spring prospectus, out now across the borough?

With the Spring term commencing on 11 January 2010, a wide variety of courses are available: in business and training; fine art and craft; IT and computing; and languages. There are also courses specifically designed for disabled people or people with learning difficulties.

For those who wish to improve their knowledge of computing, the courses on offer range from ‘Basic IT for Work’ over ten weeks to mastering ‘Adobe Photoshop’ in just one day.

Another highlight is ‘Wines of the World’, which guarantees five weeks of enjoyable evening classes and wine tasting costing £38, or £19 for concessions.

With six different beauty therapy courses available including face painting, manicures and an introduction to make up, all those budding beauticians out there can gain useful tips and skills whilst also meeting new people in their local area.

Courses range from one day to 30 weeks and Merton Adult Education has venues in Mitcham, Colliers Wood, Pollards Hill and Wimbledon, making the return to education flexible to suit residents’ needs.

Cabinet member for housing and community services, Councillor Linda Scott said:
“Merton has a great deal to offer those who want to return to learning or pick up a new skill, as evidenced by the wide range of courses available. Learning can be very stimulating and these courses will enable residents to gain a new qualification and enhance their employment prospects.”
