Open your mind to adult education

Merton residents are being encouraged to see the wide range of new and exciting learning opportunities at Merton Adult Education at the summer open day on 6 July.

The Whatley Avenue site will open its doors from 4pm until 6pm to all residents looking to gain new skills, try something different and improve their career prospects. With the autumn term kicking off on 27 September, now is the time to find out how easy it is to take the first steps back into education.

The new prospectus, available from Merton Adult Education venues, children’s centres, and libraries across the borough, is packed with hundreds of courses including beginners languages, IT, art and much more.

Highlights from the prospectus include life sculpture, jewellery making, teaching assistant courses, free career workshops, IT design courses and ITEC beauty courses.

The open day offers residents a chance to come and speak to tutors and staff at the college to gain further information and help choose a course to suit their needs.

Cabinet member for education, Councillor Peter Walker said “It is never too late to learn something new or improve your skills. Now is the time to look at potential training opportunities that could make you a stronger candidate for a job or steer you down a career path you never expected.

“Merton Adult Education has something to suit everyone and I encourage all residents to head down to the open day to find out how going back to education can work for them.”
